BILLINGS - Investigators sifting through the remains of a house Billings obliterated by an explosion Wednesday ruled out an incident caused intentionally, but do not know yet what caused the explosion.
Mike Spini, the fire marshal of the city conducting the investigation, said Thursday afternoon that he may be "several weeks" before officials know what caused the explosion that leveled the home of Gary Woltermann to 1411 Granite Ave.
Investigators strongly suspect a line of natural gas leak caused or contributed to the explosion, he said, but "to what extent we are not sure yet.
